MACC brings in diverse line of Volkswagen Truck and Bus

MANILA: MAN Automotive Concessionaires Corp (MACC) is now distributing the Volkswagen (VW) Truck and Bus brand.

VW Truck and Bus was born international in 1981, exporting in its first year to Chile, Paraguay, and Mexico. Since then, VW Truck and Bus has exported over 160,000 vehicles to more than 30 countries in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

The VW Truck and Bus line MACC is introducing to the market is comprised of various models, which cover different weight classes and drivetrains. These trucks range from nine tons to 31 tons, in 4x2, 4x4, 6x4, 8x2 and 8x4 executions.

The trucks and buses are powered by popular Cummins and MAN engines with efficient common rail fuel management system. They are Euro 5-compliant with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emission technology. They will come in six-speed, nine-speed, and 16-speed transmissions, MACC said.

For comfort and safety, the VW Truck and Bus line features powered door locks, powered windows and side mirrors, ergonomic seats and seating arrangement.

With the VW Truck and Bus line, MACC said it can cater to a diverse of applications, such as closed vans, wing-vans, refrigerated vans, drop-sides, flat beds, people transport food and beverage transport. Boom trucks, tipper trucks, cement mixers, including specialty purpose vehicles add to the list applications.

The VW Constellation has a payload of over 10,000 kilograms on its chassis, which can carry a cargo bed for cement or refrigerated van The Constellation truck is powered by a 6.8-liter six-cylinder engine, which produces 204kw and 1050Nm of torque.

The VW Delivery can carry cargo weighing up to 5,500kg. To motivate the VW Delivery, it is equipped with a 3.8-liter four-cylinder engine to 123kw and 600Nm of pull. A six-speed manual transmission is paired to the motor.

MACC has also introduced the Volksbus, which is based on a chassis that can qualify the model as microbus, minibus, medium bus, and coach. Based on the press release provided by MACC, the Volksbus appears to feature a seat on the door which could hoist a disabled person into the cabin, and a high ground clearance for rough terrain.

MACC's Man Truck and Bus center is located at EDSA corner Seminary Road, Quezon City.
